We started with our marvellous 20 mile Ribbon Walk for the charity Breast Cancer Care. It was an amazing day. We sported bright pink bob-style wigs, pink leg-warmers and pink glittery make-up (yes - we are still just young enough to get away with it). We arrived late and got rushed up the hill after a slightly bizzare photo-shoot send-off by The Gorgeous Green Goddess. The Sister wore her fantastic Birthday Badge and a Birthday Tiara and was wished "Many Happy Returns" all the way round. We were surprised and ever-so-slightly smug to find that nobody else had bothered to dress up and it was fab (in our advancing years) to stick out like a sore thumb and get lots of compliments about our outfits.
The cows were intrigued by the long line of intruders stamping through their field. So cute!

My legs started to hurt at 9 miles and my blisters started to form at 10 miles and then the remaining 9 miles were spent discussing my various aches and pains and testing various different gaits in order to stem the agony. The wigs were multi-purpose in that they looked fantazi and protected us from the constant rain therefore protecting us from inevitable drowned-rat look at the finish line.

Six hours later and The Parents & The Dogs joined us for the last 3 miles which was a wonderful lift and it was marvellous to find the event photographers getting all excited about the fancy-dress-cute-dogs-photo-opportunity at the finish line. The Beautiful Birthday Girl had her own little photo session at the end as I sloped off to deal with The Press - she did look really really lovely despite 20 miles walking in the pouring rain.
All in all it was a really special birthday-day.
We then went for tea with friends at Darley Dale and had to keep my wig on for the whole evening as the little 3-year old was horrified whenever I took it off. Clearly I am much more attractive with lurid pink hair. Hmmmmm.............
We treated ourselves to a Sex-in-the-City day out on Sunday with lunch (and French Martini and Champagne............and red wine..............oh - and desert wine...............ouh -and port (eeeck)) at Harts (AMAZING!!!!!!!). I managed to finish The Amy Butler Burdy Birthday Holdall. It is lovely and worth the 4am starts to get it finished.

We then went onto the cinema for some laughter and tears and lots of self-reflection for the movie - yes its all so bloomin cliched but SO RELEVANT!!!! We then went for necessary emotional debriefing over a Cosmopolitan and felt much better about life in general. Taxis were involved for even the shortest of distances as we both insisted on wearing our heels despite FLIPPIN MASSIVE blisters on our feet. The taxi drivers in our town are not used to girls needing to be delivered half a mile down the road but we really didn't care.
What a flippin great weekend we had - birthdays rock!!!!
