10km - 58.10
So me and The Sister went off to Sherwood Pines to do the 10km trail race this weekend.
The Sister politely stayed with me for the first 2.5km but then quite wisely gave up pretending she wasn't really that quick and went off ahead and came in at 56 minutes. She could almost certainly do it a helluvah lot quicker but sensibly is not pushing too hard at this stage (at the moment to pretend she is not already a zillion times fitter than me)...but her sympathy for me will hopefully stand her in good stead not to get an injury. Not sure running is really her thing - she is far too sociable and prefers to sweat and bounce around in company but if she puts her mind to it she could probably be doing a Bob Graham Round this time next year.
I limped round the first 8km suffering from a distinct deterioration in the good personal habits I cultivated at the start of this year but luckily found some strength to push a bit harder the last 2km and came in at well under an hour - knocking 7 minutes off my Shepshed 7 time in November.......which frankly I am thrilled with. I need to say thanks to the big girl in front of me with the pig tails and pink knee high socks - I was never gonna come in behind her and hold her appearance responsible for my spurt at the end - thanks gurl X
